whoa...this is a shocker...i’ll never forget Hagler-Hearns..one of the most brutal 3 round fights ever...from the golden age of boxing..1980’s...r.i.p...
I just saw him on a Carson rerun this week.
He and Sugar Ray Leonard were big tickets to see.
RIP Marvelous Marvin!
Just, damn!
And Michael Spinks died just last week.
Yes!
i now his brother Leon died recently...
I recall the Pizza Hut commercial he did after beating up Thomas Hearns, I think it was... [MH, Enjoying a slice of pizza] "I wonder what whatshisname is having for dinner tonite. Probably soup."
Anyway RIP.
Leon Spinks
Loved Marvin. Could box or brawl, your choice.
One of the greats during the golden age of middleweight boxing....the 1980’s. A great boxer but also a good man!
Golden Age was 30’s-50’s IMHO. But much cool afterwards too.
And just for those who might not know, you have to be real smart to be great boxer. The sweet science.
i got to know Tommy Hearns quite well..i detailed his corvette when i worked at a Chevrolet dealership in the early 80’s...go to the Kronk gym and watch those guys train. I still see him around every blue moon. That decade had some great fighters...and it seems they all took turns thumpin each other. Hagler -Hearns literally tore into each other that night...you just knew someone wasn’t gonna last long. When Hearns absolutely destroyed Roberto Duran sticks out too....when those guys fought, you were gonna get your moneys worth....great times then.
I loved watching him box. He was a great and fearless boxer.
Leon died, not Michael.
How sad! LOVED watching him box! RIP Marvin.
