Far-Left City Of Evanston, IL Becomes First City In America To Give Reparations To Black Residents…But There’s a Catch
According to the 2019 US Census– 16.5% of citizens living in Evanston, IL, are black. The far-left city is set to become the first city in America to dole out $10 million in reparations—but there’s a catch. Not every black Evanston resident will qualify for the $25K payout. The money used to pay reparations to some black residents will come from a 3% tax on the sale of recreational marijuana.
Black leaders warn it’s not enough. Evanston NAACP President Rev Michael Nabors says the $25,000 payout is a “drop in the bucket.”

Second, these so-called black leaders (unelected) know that their cut of the booty won’t be enough to make them obscenely rich. No doubt they consider themselves leaders so they can position themselves as mandatory stations in the money pipeline, but only for the purpose of ensuring “equitable distribution,” of course. “One for you, two for me...”
Nope—if anyone accepts a “slavery reparations” check, they must immediately renounce their US citizenship and go back to Africa—and stay out of the US for the rest of their lives.
Your response is a good one. “What if I am half black? Or 1/8th black. Should we dig up the guides from those folks back in the 30’s who established your “quality of life” based on “how Jewish” people were?”
I would only add that Blacks who owned Black slaves divvy up at a minimum half the amount to be paid out.

Classic shell game: (1) the government is going to give you money; (2) it's going to get it from the taxpayers; (3) you're a taxpayer. School debt "forgiveness" works the same way.

This is just a weak excuse the Marxists are using to enforce redistribution of wealth to help destabilize the economy and usher in full-blown socialism. Over the decades, blacks have already gotten more in their disproportionate per capita use of a wide variety of welfare programs than the normal amounts discussed for so-called reparations. This isn’t about “paying back” anything; it’s about wealth redistribution and radical left-wing political activism.

A few million immigrants from sub Saharan Africa have come to America in recent decades. Clearly none of them are descended from slavery in America.
I don’t have numbers in front of me, but there were significant communities of free blacks in America before the civil war. If we want to say any black people who have ancestry in this country, not recent immigrants, that would not be correct because some are descended from free blacks.
