For that price, you can have two limos and a driver 24/7.

I had a 1956 356A Speedster Super 90, back in the late 70s, and I was a blast to drive. But not at that price.

Let me take me Sparklette’s bottle full of coins to coin star at the market. No problem, right?

Why would anyone lease an appreciating asset?

Anyone driving a “classic” Porsche will probably be underwhelmed. I was. I leased a 911. Wasn’t impressed. Turned it in at 10 months.

My best friend bought a 914-6 in the early 1970s.

From memory, Porsche had to build 2,000 914-6s for two years in a row to qualify it for the Sports Car Club of America circuit.

The 914-6, again from memory, finished 1-2-3 in EVERY race it entered in that two year period.

That was the best handling, best high performance car I have ever driven.

I ran a luxury hotel car parking concession for several years at that time, so I drove almost every street legal sports car available.

The 914-6 would still be my first choice.

I’m sorry. But for that kind of money I’d expect them to throw in a free Yugo as a backup.

These days, everyone’s talking about the Hyundai, and the Yugo. Both nice cars, if you’ve got $3,000 or $4,000 to throw around. But, for those of us whose name doesn’t happen to be Rockefeller, finally there’s some good news – a car with a sticker price of $179. That’s right, $179. The name of the car?

Adobe. The sassy new Mexican import that’s made out of clay. German engineering and Mexican know-how helped create the first car to break the $200 barrier. At this price, you might not expect more than reliable transportation – but, brother, you get it! Extra features: like the custom contour seats, or the beverage-gripping dash. And the money you save isn’t exactly small change!

My former FIL had a limo and a full-time driver. The top of the line (at the time) Lincoln cost $75k and the driver was about $30k a year. It certainly took a lot of the worry out of going out and having a couple of adult beverages, which he did daily. I don't miss my ex-wife, but I sure do miss him. :-)

The Yugo had an electric rear window defroster so your hands would stay warm when you pushed it.

Now that's funny right there. :-)

I wish I had the money to lease a classic Porsche

Mind you, I don’t want the car - just the money.

Love my ‘11 Cayman S with ECU remap that puts its HP over 911 levels, and my ‘76 914 that runs like new.

Having no power, all manual, below 60mph, the 914 is even more fun to drive than the Cayman. Has the VW Type IV engine, but hey, it’s the handling that counts. And a meager 100hp ain’t too bad in a car under 2,000 lbs. with a center of gravity that is maybe 9” above the pavement and a wide track.

Cayman is my 2nd and had it 8 years w/no plans to ever replace it.

My best friend bought a 914-6 in the early 1970s.

That was one of my favorite cars of the 70’s. Bought a final production year 914 2.0. the car was a blast to drive; basically a go-cart for adults. The electrical system would short out if it rained for more than 3 days, but luckily I lived in a dry climate. :-)

Silly, if you have that kind of bread just buy a new 911, sell it when you get tired of it. Classic Porches are just fancy Volkswagons. Never understood the attraction, I’ll take a corvette anyday.

Read a lot of good things about the Spider - and I am 100% sure I’d love to drive it. It’s just not my style.....a bit to French looking (ok, Italian looking) for me.

And do not like turbo-4’s.....I’ll take a naturally aspirated boxer 6 any day.....

I’m in central VA - how far to I have to come to get a test-ride? I trade you 2 rides for one!

I worked with a guy back in the 80’s that bought up wrecked Porsches and fixed them up. Was fun to ride in them.
