This was the wisdom of the constitution where any direct tax was to be in equal proportion - no progressive scale.
Imagine if every gov program that costs something increased everyone’s income tax - the phones in congress would be ringing off the hook.
The main reason the gov gets away with big spending is because it’s no skin off the teeth of the lower tax bracket folks.
Of course, if we did taxes this way, congress would simply disconnect their phone lines.
Too bad they weren’t smart enough to require a balanced budget and save us from the madness.
They dont do busgets anymore.
They pass emergency spending bills
And pass bills na,ed for one thing but with money for hundreds of unrelated things included.

They are coming around. Slowly they turn. Step by step. Inch by inch.
The real problem is government confiscated the money from citizens in the first place.
liberals use taxes so many wrong ways
punitive to ‘enemies’ and causes/groups they hate
rewarding friends and cause and groups they worship and adore
The leftist criminals are absolutely constant with their propaganda.
And the eats some of it before it goes out.
Quite a lot actually.
