Two giraffes died Monday after a barn caught fire at a zoo in Reston, Virginia.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded sometime before 6 p.m. and saw fire coming from the roof and both floors of the two-story barn at Roer’s Zoofari.

That is horrible. No excuse
Who lit the barn on fire?
They shoulda got lower to the ground...
What we’ve heard on the local news is that they’re not sure, but it may have been a heater.
Barn fires are one of the things that really scare me.
Was Catherine O’Leary’s cow there?
Maybe the person whose job it was got sick of milking them.
WOW! I was just there the previous day! (Giraffes weren’t out, so I didn’t see them!)
Fortunately, they were just in time to save the hippo pool
Grief counselors? I must be getting old. My generation, we called grief counselors "friends" and would lean on them when life occasionally hurt.
That's because they were on fire.
Funny.
Try being an animal shut in a stall when a fire breaks out - and imagine what it feels like if you’ve personally cared for that animal for years.
What if it was your favorite dog? I’ve seen hardened vets and vet techs who work with ‘mere’ research animals cry when an animal had to be put down.
a heater? what kind of rag tag zoo is this?
you’re too old to feel compassion I guess? Dying in a fire is not something to laugh or joke about even with animals. This is some “Christian” site that mocks God’s creatures being hurt or tortured when horrific stories like this are posted on other occasions.
I see moronic posts like yours ..is it humor you’’re going for maybe?
People who deal with animals sometimes use electric heaters. I don’t know the facts, but the suggestion that it was a heater may mean that they inadvertently used a defective one.
(On the other hand, I’ve seen idiots walk into horse barns smoking cigarettes.)
You nailed it there, real “true” friends these days are very rare things.
I cried when my beloved cat and companion for over a decade died, but did not need grief counseling.
People today don't have real friends. They have virtual friends. Hence the need for professional, paid grief counselors, aka "rent-a-friend".
Lighten up. It was a joke, and not a very good one at that.
Do you need a grief counselor?
