Lol. The HP removed the ability to post comments because they were overwhelmingly getting hammered for their liberal lies. This removed the reason to go there and their traffic has fallen off drastically. They are just one more source of the same vile homo-prop and commie-prop that infests do many other sites. Even the wackos don’t need this many wacko sites.
The big bucks behind them doesn’t need them anymore - until the mid-terms; they’ll be back.
The main paper in NJ shut down its comments section early in 2020 in anticipation of the election, then went full-bore “Orange Man Bad” (as they clearly knew they would have to after Hillary’s embarrassment in 2016, which was their embarrassment as well). Now they’re begging for people to subscribe, but they are done; most English speakers in NJ don’t trust them at all. The problem they had with the comments was that posters would post the truth in response to their headlines/spin (about anything); local people close to the stories would expose their bias and lies, and they couldn’t have that level of candor with the election coming up.
Years ago it was predicted that print media would die; they didn’t understand that the digital version would become so biased it would die soon after. News radio (not talk radio) has become unbearable for the same bias; the newswhores couldn’t report a routine rainy day without adding how Trump had left the Paris climate nonsense. I’ve known for a long time that there was a growing division between most people who work all day and most people who watch daytime TV; now I see the same divide growing between people who listen/watch any network news and those who don’t - they simply have nothing in common AT ALL anymore.
