For two years, Dak Prescott gambled on himself. And for two years, the Dallas Cowboys sat across the table and bet against their starting quarterback and the mushrooming pay scale that surrounded him.
On Monday, the impasse was broken. Or if we’re searching for a more accurate descriptor, Prescott smashed it. The 27-year-old QB achieved a four-year, $160 million deal that essentially makes him the highest paid player in NFL history (based on his contract value at signing) and sets Prescott in the running to achieve a gargantuan windfall over the course of his career that could ultimately make him the richest player the league has ever seen.
That’s what Monday’s deal ultimately means for Prescott, who reached a $40-million-per-season plateau shared by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Dak Prescott . . . achieved a four-year, $160 million deal
Just never been impressed by the guy. This is ridiculous.
Agree. He is average at best.
I volunteer at a thrift shop/food pantry. And there it sat. A kiddy book all about the great Dak. It brought back all those trembles when everything was being put out crowning the Obamas. Both had 2 things in common:
1. Not good with the positions they held;
2. You get 3 guesses?
They were 1-3 and only beat the Falcons because it was the Falcons, before he got hurt. He’s 28, with a bum ankle and you drop over $60mil in a signing bonus to a guy who has produced NOTHING. If he’s so damn good, why did he only get 4 years?
The guy isn’t that good. He’s getting old and has $126,000,000 guaranteed for 4 years. At that number, absolutely NO ONE will ever take him, for any reason and Jerry and his sons will have to pay him even if he never steps foot on a football field.
If he was so good, they could have shopped him to the Seahawks to get a gauge on what the market would pay for a QB that ain’t that good. Then the Cowboys could have gotten their hands on Russell Wilson. But, I can guarantee that no one would give Prescott what the idiot Jones’s just did. They were worried about him being another Kapernick.
Makes you wonder how Jerry got so rich with a dumb decision like this.
At the end of the day it comes down to two words.............Tom Brady..........how much is he getting paid? Not what Prescott is getting paid....the Lord God, himself would not be able to explain why Prescott is worth more than the GOAT
More evidence that we’re a racist country.
I like Dak but yeah, someone remind me the last time Dak won a Super Bowl, kkthx.....
Dude, he aint that good.
They did put together a decent line for a while a few years ago. Best season they’ve had in ages. But they didn’t win the prize, so Jerry stopped that and went back to star worship.
Texas football (UT, Houston Texans, and Cowboys) is about as robust as the power grid.
Way overpaid. He’s an NFL average guy.
average player.
My take on the franchise? Comes from American Gangster: Jerry is Frank Lucas peddling his Blue Magic, and the local media and adoring fans are hopeless junkies.
Show me the Lombardis!!
It’s the Cowboys.
Go Vikes!! (even if they could use a change of regime there too)
Jerry Jones - more dollars than sense.
I think I saw some meems about this around superbowl time...
Brady has certainly won more NFC playoff games.
NFL fans are on their knees.
>>Are people really still watching NFL, how can they pay so much<<
Couple of years back, I looked into tickets to the Cowboys new fancy candy stadium...finally closed the website in disgust. I’m not paying those prices.
I think the crappiest cheap seat I could find were $125 bucks and I’d have to watch the game on a monitor anyhow cuz the players would look like ants.
Screw that and now all the anthem/flag disrespect...pfft! No way.
