Grateful Dead
That makes sense..
I’m obviously a big Genesis fan. Hard to say what my favorite album is... they changed a lot over the years. Lamb is good, but probably not in my Top 3. I like “Three Sides Live”...but, it’s VERY frustrating to me because, there are FOUR sides to the original album. The 4th side is studio recorded, and its FANTASTIC. But, you can’t download it on itunes. Some kind of copyright battle between the band and Apple? I don’t get it.
I struggled with this question because... I’m old, and I’ve seen a LOT of bands. Saying I wanted to go back and see something seems like an admission that I SHOULD have seen something I didn’t. Does that make sense? I had easy access to everything I WANTED to see.... in the past.
I guess... for me, it’s more recent things. Newer bands that I like, that toured after I stopped going to see a lot of concerts (although, pre-covid, my wife and I still go to see plenty).
I’ve never seem Imagine Dragons live, and I like them alot. I’ve never seen Kenny Chesny live, and the wife likes him alot! :-) (me too) Maybe, a Price concert? Wasn’t a huge fan, but liked him. I always heard he had a good live show.
I’ve seen a LOT of concerts. While in college, I worked at an arena, as an usher. I was usually near the stage.
Great story!! Fun times :-)

In 1978 alone, I saw many who were at (or at least right near) the peak of their live greatness:
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Little Feat
Jethro Tull
Bob Dylan
Yes
Genesis
Santana
George Benson
Eddie Money
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer
McGuinn, Clark, and Hillman (most of The Byrds)
But the one that got away was The Who when they still had Keith Moon. Didn’t get to see them until 1980 (and have seen them 5 more times since).
Me too, they say those concerts were awesome shows. Closest I've come is the Seconds out album. I did catch Peter Gabriel in 83 at SPAC.
I saw the Impressions’ 25th Anniversary tour - Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, ABC hitmaking era Impressions, and whoever was in the group at that time. And it was the same way - I was one of very few white people in the audience. But I was happy about that - so many of the really great black artists of the era had lost their audience. So to see them turn out for Jerry and the crew was beautiful.

Should be illegal to have that much talent on one stage.
LOL, I don’t think Chester even had to audition for the Genesis gig, I think Phil basically said, “You’re in!”
This is kinda sad - during my days at Johnny D’s I booked Mitch Ryder and about 70 people showed up to see him. It seemed to be a thing - if we booked people with hit records, not too many people would come. Mitch Ryder, Michael Martin Murphey, and a guy from Starship whose name I don’t recall (because it wasn’t my era of music) but they all brought in about 70 people. And other people who never had a hit would pack the place. Just odd how that works.
I did as well, and Chuck Berry opened for them. Incomparable! And the Stones were pretty good, too.
I just remembered two more:
Van Morrison @ Great Woods in MA
Stevie Nicks @ Great Woods in MA
Oh yea mot the Hoople not humble pie. 30 days in the hole.
Fun taking a stroll down memory lane.
That was REO 2.0 I think.
That was always the problem with him - energy doesn’t have anything to do with talent.
I was at that show. I worked in event production at the Carrier Dome in my junior and senior year @ SU.
I set up for that show on Weds & Thursday. He and the band came in Thursday night to do sound checks. Bruce came out and said hello to all of us. He seemed like a regular guy back then. At the time, the Dome was the biggest venue he had ever played. The Friday night show me and a SU football player were security on one of the rear sound towers in the back. We typically hired the SU football team for security.
The biggest guys we stuck between the stage and the front row.
The Saturday night show I caught the second act from a luxury box because after the show was over we had to tear down everything and pack it into the trucks. After that we converted the Dome back to the basketball arena for the SU/Georgetown game Sunday afternoon. My boss gave me his tickets that were 4 rows behind the net. This was when Georgetown had Patrick Ewing. He was a monster in person.
I worked over 24 hours straight. Best $5/hr job I ever had.
I was 21 years old and a senior in college.
