All ages, all stages, from what I’ve read.
Sorry to hear you were hospitalized.
Are you slim and trim, and in (otherwise) good health?
Just to be clear, with Pfizer or Modernas shot, you’re getting a gene therapy targeted at a protein sequence associated with the virus...
Seems to me that they are saying the vaccines may only be maximally effective for about 6 weeks, after which they start to become less effective over time at preventing hospitalizations.
Cathi got a link for that? I searched the text but could only come up with paywall results.
“Jan 2020”
Early.
I had a case of the flu in ~Feb 2020 [Deep Flyover Country]. Didn’t get it tested to see what type.
Took about 2 weeks to get close to recovering. No hospitalization but did get an albuterol inhaler to ward off pneumonia.
Who knows what it was. No testing on my part.
If you care to share, what treatments did they use in the hospital?
Immune systems have “learning” and “memory”, but these functions become less effective as we age. Basically, our immune system gets age related dementia just like our brains do and don’t learn new pathogens or remember old pathogens and so don’t produce antibodies for them.
This is why people who had chicken pox as children need a shingles vax at 60, to make sure the immune system remembers to make antibodies to prevent the reactivation of the virus.
Some people are born with immune systems that are village idiots and do not develop vaccine induced immunity at all. This is why no vaccine ever is 100% effective.
I’ve heard similar stories from a lot of people. Some going back to late 2019 with complaints of the worst “knock ‘em on their ars” flu they ever had. No way to know really, probably too late to find out.
How awful!
I’m surprised they aren’t pushing some kind of vaccine pump, like an insulin pump, so Pfizer can just give you a steady supply of vaccine as you give them a steady supply of your cash.
“probably too late to find out.”
An antigen test might tell the tale, but I’m on the hunt for a J&J stab.
I had no symptoms after the first dose of Moderna vaccine.
After the 2nd dose 4 weeks later, I felt under the weather for one whole day. Body aches, feverish feeling but no measurable fever, and tired all day following the day after inoculation. I was told by more knowledgeable person that means my body recognized the virus intro done by 1st shot, and my body mounted a stronger response to the same protein in vaccine. If body recognizes the invading protein it is because of anti-bodies present. I will burn 81 candles next month.
After 80% of adults are inoculated, we won’t need a vaccine pump. Because a strong herd immunity will be in place.
The older guinea pigs continue to experience less than stellar results and may require more testing.

Yeah, right.
Not if, per this article and other studies, you guys have to keep getting RE- “inoculated” every few months.
But, I get it....You like dreaming πΆ
More testing....and, more ‘vax’ing.

It is too early in the vaccine program to get definitive numbers on how long efficacy for serious disease (hospitalizations) will last. Estimates I have read from various sources indicate 4 to 8 months. But, early clinical studies have been disappointing.
It may. I thought that the antigen tests really only work if taken during the viral outbreak. Once the body destroys the virus there is no need to produce antibodies, and thus no antigen available that would show up in the test. So iirc, the antigen test is fairly useless after several months past recovery.
Open to and appreciate any corrections.
Thanks!
My method of avoiding covid is to keep lungs very strong.
Which is why I do this 330/365 days in the year:
(on the other days I mow the lawn with a push mower)
