I'm one who can hold my liquor pretty well but I draw the line at shots. That is almost always bad news. When I was out drinking with friends, I always knew it was time to leave when the shots started happening.
This is how most people die of alcohol poisoning. Keith Moon, John Bonham, Keith Whitley, to name a few music celebrities, all very experienced drinkers, who died after consuming multiple shots of alcohol in a short period of time.
Doesn't matter how experienced a drinker you are, consuming too many shots of hard alcohol in a short amount of time will kill you.

Me too! You’re dead-on. When my kids started drinking I told them: One day you will swear off hard liquor. You can do it right now and save yourself a lot of trouble and misery. Or you can learn the hard way. You have MY blood running through your veins so I can promise you, you CANT handle hard liquor. Hard liquor is the devil. Stay away from it.

While Bonzo died after 40 shots, Moonie actually died of an accidental OD of hemineverin, a drug prescribed (ironically) to cure him of his alcoholism. For years, Moonie (and mods) downed handfuls of pills.
On Sept 7, 1978, Moonie got up, had something to eat, took a handful of pills, and never woke up. The autopsy showed 26 undissilved tablets in his stomach.
Btw, the night before he died, Keith and his girlfriend Annette went to a movie preview. At the pre-movie party, someone snapped this photo of Keith taking to Kenny Jones.
