I ignore tomes which pose pedophilia as a cultural norm or “difference” as useless and counter productive.
Stats on released pedophiles show re-offending despite treatment.
So if there is a spiritual success rate not spoken of, then I regard time in prison the natural consequence for evil actions that cannot/should not be dispensed with, but that spiritual revival while in prison, among pedophiles is to be cultivated. Forgiveness of sin, grace, is treasured - but it is not a ‘get out of jail’ card. Actions have consequences.

Agreed, there has to be prison. That was never my proposition.

But dismissing other treatments because it doesn’t fit into the DSM-V, particularly when there is historical precedent is just as counter productive.

The end-game should be a safer society and rehabilitation, if possible. I just can’t see justice in throwing a 29 year old into prison for most of his natural life over this, with no priors.
