It’s coming ..... (for a few days, anyway):
Tues 67/40
Wed 70/52
Thurs 72/57
Fri 73/57
Sat 60/?
Nights in the 50’s are tomato planting weather, but I’m not fooled .... it’s only March & I’m sure we’ll have some more “cold weather shots”! Mid-April is about the earliest I’ll chance tomatoes.
Meanwhile, back at the garden for this coming week .... I’m going to turn my compost pile (a major job), go over my raised beds (a few small green sprigs popping up - want to stay ahead of the weeds) & majorly weed the last bed that needs it in the Hummingbird Garden. My tractor-style mower (that pulls a cart) is working again, so I might be hauling some wood chips.
Since I added the 4 raised beds for flowers, my garden area is now at a stage where if I squared it off, I will have a corner that I could use for something else. What I have always wanted is a fire pit and I think this is going to be the spot. A nice fire, glass of wine, drag a rocking chair off the porch, have some friends over .... I’ll probably decide whether or not to do it after this coming week. Fire pit will be something I can easily move ... just in case I want to add more raised beds to that area. :-)
I love your idea of a fire pit. Ours needs to have the stonework done around it yet, but it’s still usable. Beau used to drag home everything from construction sites; I am very glad he dragged home the big metal ring that was some sort of underground water or sewage pipe at one point.
It works perfectly and keeps everything well contained. Surrounding it with stone pavers will make much more appealing, though. ;)
