I read years ago the land bordered by 101, I5, 152 and I580 has the highest mountain lion density in the US.
I have seen a few back in there, lots of wildlife, including Tule Elk.

The Big Cats possibly being attracted by food being put out by feral feline lovers and those that want a cat but dont want it in their home and feed them out doors. This action also attracts rodents and other pest the Big Cats like to dine on.

Out door “domestic cats” feral or not are a menace.
