Baltimore squirrel eating pizza reminds social media that the mammals aren’t picky with food By Cortney Moore | Fox News

Pizza might not be a natural part of a squirrel’s diet, but these tree-scaling rodents aren’t letting that fact stop them.

That’s what Allison and Matt Robicelli showed folks when they shared their first-hand account and video of a pizza-loving squirrel in Baltimore with The Takeout, a food publication under G/O Media Inc.

While it’s not clear where the slice came from, Matt spotted the squirrel grabbing the pizza and climbing up a tree with it all from their front porch on Wednesday, March 3. He reportedly watched the squirrel for around 10 minutes and shared a 50-second clip of the small mammal eating the gourmet meal, which was later posted to YouTube.

“Crows love pizza.”

Yes they do. But the Seagulls usually get to it first.

The big, old maple in my front yard is like an apartment building for a bunch of squirrels. The do like pizza, among other things they get from garbage cans. I have watched them try to carry a slice up the tree, but fail. I often find crusts on both front and back porches, though.

Squirrels living outside of any College residence building have been eating pizza for dozens of squirrel generations already. Any college student living in rez can tell you this. Skwerls that aren’t fed pizza by the stoned students will simply steal it. :P

Crows will eat almost anything; may not be too picky about diet, but it’s one of our most intelligent birds.

I’ve seen a raven atop a road sign eating a corn dog. Been watching a pair of them for a decade, and they’re smarter than most people.

Today, that is not saying a hell of a lot. One thing for sure is that they are smarter than Biden voters.

There’s something called a ‘crow call’ that you can buy.

It will attract them, and if you feed them when they come, they’ll be your friends.

I’ve had crows that I’ve only randomly fed once who recognized me when they saw me out again, and swooped down to say, ‘Hey!’.

They’re mercenary little bastards, but among the most intelligent of birds. (I’ve even heard stories of them leaving little ‘gifts’ for humans to whom they’ve taken a shine.)

LOL.

I guess there are people in the world who eat worms and slugs and bugs; and they’ve lived through it :-)

Damning with faint praise...

there was a UofW study where a researcher would wear a George H Bush mask and torture crows, the crows told their friends ans pretty soon packs of crows would attack anytime they saw someone wearing a Bush mask. this was back in the early 90s

(I cannot find the article cause it seems it was scrubbed or never made it to the net, but it did happen, I found one from the 2000s where they were using Dick Cheney masks.

It is like they forgot George W Bush was the conservative man of color who came west on the Oregon Trail and after being run out of Oregon due to racial intolerance came and founded Washington Sate

Most birds have little to no sense of smell. They are very visually-oriented creatures.

Your dog wouldn’t be fooled by a mask.

I was talking with My Brother that just lost his Wife of 47 years and He’s been getting things done and cleaning up stuff. There was a 1/2 gallon of Strawberry Ice Cream and He won’t eat it so He put it out for the Critters to eat. Shortly after Sunset, He looked out there and a Opossum was head first in the container and after a few minutes it pulled out and stepped back to look at the Ice Cream and that lasted for about 10 minutes then it shook it’s head a few times and walked off into the Woods. My Brother decided that the Opossum must have had a case of Brain Freeze ! A few minutes later 2 Opossums were at the box 1 was eating at the Ice Cream as the other sat nearby shaking it’s head.

(I’ve even heard stories of them leaving little ‘gifts’ for humans to whom they’ve taken a shine.)

I read a long article about a mom and daughter and the daughter would feed the crows. The crows would leave gifts for the daughter and she saved them all. Shiny pieces of garbage, etc.

The crows would follow mom and daughter on their walks.

One day the mom dropped the lens cover off her camera during one of the walks and didn’t notice until she got home. The following day - the lens cover was sitting in the spot where the crows would leave their gifts!

I don’t recall that it was a George Bush mask - but it was some sort of mask. And not only did the crows tell their friends - they somehow taught it to their children. IIRC the professor wore the same mask a bunch of years later after the original crows were dead, but the new generation of crows still dive-bombed him!

I don’t recall if he did a “blind” test using another mask. It may have been the crows just were dive-bombing this unnatural looking human with a mask on??

(Hmm - I wonder if in 2020 the crows are dive-bombing everyone!?)

BY the way - back on topic with the squirrels. I wonder what the reaction on youtube would be to a rat eating a slice of pizza?
