PITTSBURGH — A record 745,000 Americans filed for jobless benefits for the first time last week.
With so many people seeking financial help, the city of Pittsburgh is trying a new approach: handing out money.
Pittsburgh is one of 30 cities across the country participating in a pilot program that provides free money to certain families who are struggling.
“The best way to break the cycles of poverty is to give people money,” said Mayor Bill Peduto (D-Pittsburgh).
100 low-income African American women, who are working and have families, will receive $500 every month for two years. No tax dollars will be used. All the money will come from donations.

This country is brain-dead and needs to be taken off of life support with this mentality.

Here we go with the Democrat racism again. Poor white folks need not apply. Poor Asian folks need not apply.
And then there’s the mayor’s idiotic statement: “The best way to break the cycles of poverty is to give people money.” Is that supposed to be a joke? You break the cycle of poverty by providing opportunity!
Cause poverty is just a lack of money and has nothing to do with the bad decisions and choices a person makes and continues to make.

I’ve never lived in Pittsburgh, but if I self-identify as a Pittsburgh resident will I be able to receive the money?

It’s a government program, which means the chances of it ending are slim. How long was the telephone tax to fund the Spanish American war in effect? 100 years?
The 4 people running the program will get 75,000 a year.
Oops thats only half.
Pay them 150,000 and call it a day.
100 families x $500 month x 2 years = $1.2 million.
Why is the mayor asking for $3 million to get the program going?
Great question, buy you already know. Because 1.8 mil is for “The Program.” The ladies with families getting the stipends are merely objects of “the program”. “The Program” is what it’s all about, that’s the fiefdom, the conduit, the leaky part of the helping bucket. What a racket.
Conditioning us to accept reparations. Handouts don’t help. Getting people to work does.
I know it is a rhetorical question but why 100 black women? Why not 100 of various races and genders and compare the results?
You also have to identify as a black woman.
