Interesting. Not unusual that music virtuosos are sometimes odd. Many are literal geniuses and see things others cannot.

Thanks for posting. I’d never heard this before. Big Yes fan, but hadn’t noticed it.

That’s a great article!

Rick has an incredible sense of humor, and he’s a truly inspired musician.

One of my favorite stories of Rick was when Yes was playing at Madison Square Garden, he was hungry during the concert, so he sent a roady out to pick up something to eat, and he brought back some Indian food, and Rich was eating it during the other musician’s solos, and they were trying to figure out why they kept smelling Indian food (Rick was the only non-vegetarian in Yes at the time.)

But he was a very hard drinker! I remember seeing photos of Rick in concert with Yes, and during the concerts, he’d have rows of empty Heinikn bottles lined up on his keyboards.

Thankfully, he’s managed to survive long enough to get his life together, and has become rather conservative, and is a Born Again Christian.

If you haven’t seen it, you really need to see his concert video “The Six Wives of Henry VII, Live at Hampton Court Palace.”

AI-generated by Youtube and then passed to FR. That’s the pipeline for a tuneful be yourself be yourself be yourself be yourself be yourself and so on.

So choose, go ahead and give your freewill a chance, but someone’s fixed the choices. The guitar gods have been repurposed to control the masses.

Thanks for your comments.

I keep thinking I’ll pick up his Grumpy Old Rockstar Books 1 and 2 when I get caught up.

Supposedly they are quite entertaining.

If you haven’t seen it, his Yes Induction Acceptance Speech at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2017 is classic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfa-WR_PEws

He used to be on a British news show where he commented on the taxes and whatnot from a conservative slant. In this role, though I can’t find any video right now, he was a dead ringer for a conservative Andy Rooney of 60 Minutes fame.
