always been ticks and Lyme Bacterium although its prevalance is relatively new in the grand scheme of things

One of the reasons I sold my place in rural Ct and left. I couldn’t go out in my woods or yard without getting bit.
Lyme ticks are about the size of a poppy seed, plain old Brown ticks no problem take them any day.

Gun laws sucked too

Did you ever put out tick tubes?

You can make your own and they are supposed to be very effective.

She looks like she uses dryer lint. You can use cotton balls.

The government, the FDA, and the CDC simply don’t want us healthy.

“Lyme” Disease?

that’s RASSSCCCCIIIIST against Lymons!

How Dare They!

If WuHu Flu is out, ChiCom Corona, Panda Sniffles or all other descriptives are out too, why not use a general, non-descriptive, non-discriminatory “Covid-349” or something less offensive?

It’s all about the deer:

https://medicine.yale.edu/news-article/15651/

“The finding shows that the ongoing Lyme disease epidemic was not sparked by a recent introduction of the bacterium or an evolutionary change—such as a mutation that made the bacterium more readily transmissible. It is tied to the ecological transformation of much of North America. Specifically, forest fragmentation and the population explosion of deer in the last century have created optimal conditions for the spread of ticks and triggered this ongoing epidemic ....

“The Lyme disease bacterium has long been endemic,” she said. “But the deforestation and subsequent suburbanization of much of New England and the Midwest created conditions for deer ticks—and the Lyme disease bacterium—to thrive.”

Otzi the Iceman, the 5K yo ice-mummy, had Lyme disease. Animal and human populations were dispersed so that was likely not prevalent. Still, it’s old as dirt — or deer.

That’s one vaccine I WOULD take, once proven to be effective. It’s quite prevalent in Wisconsin, as well. D@mn our beautiful forests and woodlands! ;)

Lost a really great 5 year old Labrador Retriever to Lyme Disease. In Labs it effects their kidneys, and of course once she displayed symptoms, it was too late. :(

And I did everything for her - flea and tick goop, flea baths, nightly Tick Checks. I never found a tick on that dog. Ever. And she slept with me, too.

Re: clinical trial on 66 human subjects

I’m wondering...after they give them the vaccine shot, how do they know if it works?

Do they send them out into the woods where the ticks are, or just try to actively infect them with it...

Been that way around here for years now.
Don’t remember ever getting infested with ticks when i was a kid though.
i wonder what happened..

The “don’t shoot Bambi’s mother” crowd took over.

A few years back, a major park just south of the city was overrun withy deer to the point where they were starving. The state organized a series of hunts to cull the herd. The wailing of the snowflakes was intense.

There already is a Vaccine for Lyme.

You just aren’t allowed to get it but your dog can.

It is the same vaccine that was developed for and works in, humans.

If you wanted to thank someone for preventing you from getting it, thank a lawyer. Three minor reactions to the Vaccine got it was yanked and they quickly switched over to aiming it at pets.

It’s well known around here in NJ that if you work with brush and such, you get a sympathetic Vet to provide it to you.

I know a lady who contracted Lyme disease and she lived in Florida. She was talking on her cellphone to her boyfriend and stopped in the middle of a highway and got out and started making snow angels in the median.

She said she was lucky that she got a cop who recognized that she was having a medical crisis and not a drug addict. She recovered and she said she can no longer have massages because when they work on her spine, it release the disease and symptoms return.

In northern Minnesota, we used to do spring burns of long grass/meadows. I think that killed of lots of ticks in various life stages. Enter State spring burning regs (before grasses green up). The State has Fire Flights up until green up so no one can get this burning done. The ticks and the number of new diseases are now pretty prevalent.

If you own a small farm in Northern California and are getting it ready for your retirement, then return to southern California where you live and work full time until retirement you have to SELF DIAGNOSE.

Apparently the doctors down there have never seen, or even heard of LYME DISEASE!

My farm is in Trinity County, a west coast epicenter for Lyme disease.

Took me over a month of arguing with those IDIOT DOCTORS down there before they would even check for the Lyme spirochete and start treatment.

If you are in tick country DON’T GO TO BIG CITY DOCTORS for Lyme Disease treatment, go to a LOCAL DOCTOR.

Fairly easy to treat (anti-biotics) if you can make the IDIOTS understand that you have been exposed.

In So. Cal. the doctors kept telling me that there was no Lyme Disease down there, I kept telling them “I KNOW, I GOT IT IN TRINITY COUNTY, YOU IDIOTS”!

In Northern California it’s a known quantity, in Southern California you would die of old age before those IDIOT DOCTORS WOULD LISTEN TO YOU AND DO A SIMPLE TEST!
