“Clay is not a trial judge he is the legal CIC of Dallas County and the last word other than the Texas Supreme Court in laws and policy in his County.”

Sis not Greg Abbott say yesterday that “Nobody will be forced to wear a mask or penalized for not doing so”?

If that is the case Mr Clay can go pound sand

Clay could order it and it will become a legal pissing match since the sheriff and the head judge are the highest constitutional authority in their respective counties it will become a state supremacy clause issue that only the Texas state Supreme Court can decide the outcome. Abbot can say what he wants but those two officials are the direct elected representatives of their people in their County and every conservative should support their direct constitutional authority as the most accountable and local representative of the people they are responsible for and elected by. Just because they make poor choices doesn’t change they are the most direct constitutional power in their sand box. Next election should the good people of Dallas County disagree by all means remove them until then they are the ones tasked with the administration of the executive actions for their County. To avoid a constitutional crisis I would expect the Texas Supremes to differ to the rightfully elected locals we don’t need a tyrant on the Colorado River in Austin now or in the future.
