Highly recommend a GREAT Pyrenees.
Awake and barking at the slightest out of the ordinary. With hurricane window and doors, just walk by the house in the street, saying nothing and she knows. She knows who’s trouble in public.
Wrestling with her? Forget it. She had no idea how powerful her bite is and will tear into your arm if she gets carried away.
Sweet as can be. Takes food from you with her gentle grab.
But don’t provoke her, lean over her, corner her, or get hostile with either Sw, or MissSW...she’ll get it on you FAST.
TWO OF THESE will guard 300 acres and 250 head of sheep.
Incredible dogs
Smart as they come.
Just had surgery.
The instant Miss SW brought me home, she knew something was wrong. Immediately jumped on the bed beside me and put her nose under my hand. Stayed right there for days, back to me, guarding the door.
As I call her, my second favorite heartbeat.
My cousins have a rottie and he will roll over for belly rubs. from anyone.....I asked if he would take down a burglar and my cousin said yeah, touch his toys and you’ll pull back a bloody stump...
When I was a preschooler, my grandfather would take me next door to his neighbor's, who had a Great Pyrenees. I used to jump on his back and ride him around the background. Dog was very tolerant and gentle, and I had absolutely no fear to ride him.
My own dog, who I owned many years ago, was a toy fox terrier. She was a great watchdog. No one could pass the house without her high pitched alert bark. And she wasn't friendly to strangers, although at her size she probably couldn't do much damage.
In high school I had a friend who had a Great Pyrenees. Dandy loved every one, let the little ones ride on him like a horse, even play with his ears (something our Peke would never allow). Cats, however, were a different story. A cat foolish enough to get in his yard usually became a snack. Not much of a stray cat problem in that neighborhood.
