What would you have had them do? Very remote location in the dead of winter.
I don't have an answer to that other than restate my initial opinion.
Nobody is going to have your back and you are going to be on your own and the only folks who are going to suffer for your unassisted stand off are your family, your mortgage company, the college you send your kids to, etc...........
