I remember Irv Cross in a good way. He, along with Brent Musburger and Phyliss George, did the pre-game and halftime shows for CBS in the 1970s and early 1980s.

IMHO, those were the glory years of the NFL.

My recollection is that he was a class act. I was at Iowa during their glory years and he was at Northwestern playing for Ara Parseghian's Wildcats. Saw him play. Helluva football player and seemed an all around decent fellow. RIP.
