Recently I was asked to give comments on why setting up a new group account on Facebook was a very bad idea…you can read below…
Here are my comments…Not meant to be offensive, so don’t take it that way. However, I do believe in what I am saying (obviously feel strongly about it), so if I didn’t bring this up in detail, I would not feel good about myself, as many are not aware. Once this email is sent, I won’t mention it again, except to answer questions. I am sending this because several have asked me to describe my concerns.
People need to realize – Facebook is in bed with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), yes, those people who currently have over 1mm people in concentration camps, and harvest organs of political prisoners while they are still alive. Here is the latest evidence of that from yesterday’s CPAC.

Too many people don’t yet understand this.
Interesting,
I signed up 15 years ago and never used it since!
All I remember is my photo
Holding a Pitch Fork, wearing a “Savage” hat and
Holding a sign Reading
“Moon The Media” with Bart
Dropping his drawers.
Is that Bad?
That,,,,
Is “Surgical”
Never been on!
Mess with FB’s algorithm .
Never use your real birthday .
My bday on FB is 1902.
I sign up for events all over the US.
My hometown is the North Pole.
I am on FB mostly to keep in contact with friends and family on the lower 48.
I post political stuff all the time. Most of the time. I’ve been hit with “fact-checks” and that crap, but never banned.
I do not use FB to get my news, and as a matter of fact, a lot of the “news” posted there, right and left, is fake, or inaccurate.
If people use FB to get news, they need their heads examined. I’ll likely keep using it. I block and report ads all the time. I never buy anything from their ads. That’s just asking for it.
If it crashes and burns, then oh well.
The writer tells you, “If you believe in America, then download your data via their download option (pics and everything), and DELETE, not de-activate your account today.”
What happens if you de-activate your account?
Using Facebook may not be a danger to a particular user like yourself, and may be useful and practical.
But Communist China is evil, and buying/using their products subsidizes slave labor, genocide and mass tyranny.
If you wouldn’t knowingly buy a product produced by slave labor, then don’t use FaceBook.
Thanks, Nully.
Yes, they are, and as I have said before, I only go there to have contact with family members. But these days, it’s once a day, for a very short time, so I’m thinking I’ll be “weaned” of it before long.
I don’t like the place.
I left FB in January. Undoubtedly a good move.
I’m not going back.
am on Facebook to keep in touch with distant relatives. I don’t post political opinions. I also don’t buy items posted for sale. I used to buy things, but they were all, wrong sized junk from China. If I see something that looks good for sale, I go to Amazon or other market place, to look for it.

Same. When more of the world uses Facebook as its communications media, and if you want contact with friends/ acquaintances/ co-workers and you don’t want to give them your cell number, it’s the only way to go. Or if you want to send more than sms, it’s way to go.
It’s better than Skype, Zoom, or Google Meet.
“...I go to Amazon...to buy things.”
This is the problem. Most people are not tech savvy enough to avoid the bad guys. They just bounce from one criminal website to another. I recently bought an item that was initially linked to Amazon in an article but instead I went to the manufacturer website directly through a simple DDG lookup. The manufacturer had a cheaper price than Amazon and free shipping so I bought it from them and cut out Amazon altogether. For quite some time I’ve been avoiding many companies and websites that are known to be supporting the worldwide Evil Empire. This is certainly less convenient, but it’s God’s work!

If you deactivate your account it is automatically deleted after 30 days. I shut mine down a month ago by doing this. There is no option to straight-up delete your account. The FB crew’s probably figuring that a sizable number of folks who deactivate their accounts will miss FB enough to reactivate within the 30 day window.

Manufacturer websites do not ship overseas, at anywhere near the shipping rates of Amazon and they do not have automatic customs clearance. If I order anywhere but Amazon, a minimum 12% VAT is added, and up to 100% additional customs tariffs.
I understand your problem, but most people don’t have such difficulties. The product I recently bought was from a Canadian manufacturer shipped to the US. It was cheaper doing that than buying from Amazon. This is usually the case throughout North America.

Case in point, needed 2 books and a package of 12 foam acoustic panels, not available locally. Direct shipping not available through Amazon. Cost of items: $80, cost of shipping: $91. Since I needed the books for my library (filling missing volumes in a series) and the panels, no choice.
Similar books: $10 flat fee including customs, per item.
