I was very happy to find out my kid's Catholic school would have in-person classes this year. Public schools throughout the region have telecommunting students, which amounts to simply cancelling lessons... at least here anyway.
I'm very disturbed to find my son has been suffering headaches, dizziness, and attention troubles that seem to disappear when he's done with the masks. Naturally, I blame masking. So far, school officials don't, of course. Anyone else have kids being masked for school?
You didn’t give his age......
....maybe younger children have a harder time
....I think masked students are unnecessary.....
...but our granddaughter has been wearing one to high school, by necessity, since September
I work at a school and we’ve had in-person classes, on and off, since August. The kids are ok with the masks, but not real happy to have to wear them. Bad thing is when the masks aren’t washed every day. Yuck!
Only during Halloween!

I have a daughter and son in grade school.
The other day my son got a bloody nose at school. He said to me, dad wanna know the best and worst part about getting a bloody nose at school. Worst part is I got a bloody nose, best part is I didn’t have to wear a mask for 30 minutes!
Grandson in private school in-person kindergarten since September, 2020.
No problems. He and his classmates wear the masks at all times unless eating lunch or snack.
His class even has Zoom recitals for us grandparents. and all the kids sing with the masks on.
His school day is 9am until 3pm. It isn’t half-day kindergarten.
Maybe your kid is having eye trouble? Have you had his eyes checked?
Allergy of some sort?
Is it a washable mask and if so what detergents?
If I forget cloth face mask and use an old paper one I keep in my console, sometimes it can send me into a sneezing jag. Dust or something.
I feel for him, I get hot and end up mouth breathing after I’ve had one on for longer than half hour or so and a headache.
I absolutely hate masking, especially in the summer.
It’s probably a major distraction and it could be overwhelming his senses.
Our 15-year-old must wear a mask at school. “Fortunately”, he only goes two days a week with it. I say “fortunately” because my biggest complaint is his seeming lack of education content versus going five days a week. Now, he goes two days, does two days of online, and apparently Wednesday is completely off. On any one day, he works approximately 2 hours and has no homework. We’re seriously considering doing home school next year if they continue this crap, as he’s not being well prepared for college.
Now, to your point: He doesn’t seem to be suffering any ill effects to his two days of mask wearing. My preference would be he not wear them at all — another benefit of home schooling that is appealing...
Have you talked to your kid’s doctor about getting your kid’s pulse oxygen tested while the kid is wearing a mask?

Unfortunately, it’s those that call the shots higher up that need an education as many employees appear to be considerably smarter than the administrators.
I agree. Masks are useless and can cause some people a lot of problems. Our county has no mask mandate but face shields/masks are required in the schools. I hear a lot of complaints from the kids. I tell them it’s not my rules. If a health inspector stops by and sees lax mask rule enforcement, the school can be shut down.
I think cleaning stuff and washing hands is good practice, pandemic or not. Keeping sick kids home is helpful for any and all diseases. The rest is questionable.
Some kids have conditions and don’t wear masks - but they have to stay away from other students. Some of them opt to wear a mask, anyway.
