I know cigar smokers claim they do not inhale. But my neighbor always had an UNLIT cigar in his mouth, never saw him without one. He got mouth, tongue, throat cancer and died. I know tobacco can kill. Could be the chemicals used curing the tobacco leaves, I don’t know. But it is not a good healthy thing to do, smoking.... I tried to talk a good friend into quitting smoking, she didn’t want to stop. She passed away young. My grandma smoked a lot and had a stroke and died young. My uncle, though, smoked at least two packs a day for about 80 years. Died at 91, lung cancer. Didn’t develop it till age 90. He was unusal case.

A good friend of mine smoked all day long for years. When the first grandchild arrived, she quit cold turkey — too late. Fifteen years later, breast cancer, then heart attacks, then strokes. She died at around 55 years old.

This may be an ignorant question. Is tobacco smoke more dangerous than other smoke? I ask, because before the 20th century people lived in much smokier environments than we have for say, the last 60–70 years. Homes were heated with both wood and coal and many jobs required a lot of exposure to smoke. My grandfather was a railroad engineer and no doubt inhaled a lot of coal smoke.

The thing people don't understand. Stage 4 small-cell reduces most people to a bag of bones & water and they simple succumb. At least Rush went out at most of his weight, hopefully he was able to eat what he wanted right up to that last week.

But.

Given that, it appears they tried the experimental receptor 'delivery' techniques at the beginning, and after that failed to get to 'first base', they obviously went to the hard stuff with the known side effects, maybe 3D radiation too, if you piece it together there was at least one week he called a pause and timed out treatment; and one wonders if there was a missed opportunity to do the same at the end.

Lot of conflict there at the last 3 weeks whether the week he missed outright when expected was a treatment week, or was the week prior to the day he passed a treatment week.
