The "Apache" name for the software came about as an in-joke, unrelated to the Indians of that name.

The original release of the webserver was not stable, and needed constant application of updates, called "patches". Someone remarked that it was "a patch-y webserver" and that became "Apache webserver".

The actual history behind something does not matter when it comes to “woke”ness, cancel culture, and their revolution. What matters is the perceived offensiveness. Eventually the name will be changed .
