When I was learning to drive my dad said to me "parking lots are the riskiest places. Nobody knows what anyone else is going to do at any time. move carefully and look everywhere". Man, he was right on that one. Not risk of death (unless you get run over) but risk of a collision for sure.
Your dad was right. I hate supermarket parking lots in particular.
Those places are just itching to have some distracted person plow into you.
I always get jumpy backing out in that place, because no matter how hard I look and crane my head, I always have this gut feeling someone is in my EXACT blind spot, pulling out in exactly a mirrored way, and neither of us see each other.
