That’s what the first doctor told me after telling me the ligaments and tendons were “torn” but not ruptured. He said nothing was broken and I said “oh good”. He laughed and said “honey, you will wish you had broken this foot before these tendons heal”. He was so right! I’m seeing a specialist in Knoxville now and she says the tendons have healed but they and the muscles in my leg are too tight. I also have the cystic arthritis that is causing issues. She said it will be slow but it should get good enough to function as long as I wear the brace with a high top boot when outside. The brace is not needed on level ground unless it’s weak and feels like it wants to roll.

I know from experience when I was an athlete in my youth. I was always spraining my ankles but never broke anything.

My doc told me I had loose joints, prone to sprains and tears. It took me forever to heal up.

He told me more than once that it would have been better just to break the bone than to rip up everything around it.
