Tiger Woods was hospitalized after being involved in a single-car accident in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. The extent of any potential injuries, as well as the circumstances of the accident, remain unclear.
Woods, 45, was in California for a two-day content shoot with Golf Digest/GOLFTV after serving as host for the PGA Tour's Genesis Invitational over the weekend. Pictures surfaced on social media of Woods smiling with Dwayne Wade and David Spade at Rolling Hills Country Club on Monday, but with his movement still restricted, he did not hit balls or play any holes. The shoot involved Woods giving on-course lessons to a number of celebrities, but he mostly provided instruction and hit a few putts. He was in good spirits on Monday but did not arrive to the course for the second day of shooting.
On Sunday, Woods told CBS’ Jim Nantz that he was awaiting the results of an upcoming MRI before he could ramp up practicing and training for a return to competition.
Woods last competed alongside his son at the PNC Championship, which finished on Dec. 20 in Orlando. He then underwent a microdiscectomy procedure to remove a pressurized disc fragment that was pinching a nerve. It was his fifth back surgery overall and the first since his spinal fusion in April 2017.
One other thing, this thread seems to have some really hostile people associated with it. I find that very odd.
Bad wreck could end career.
Hope he’s ok .

.
But it is golf, men in their 60s still play pro and win.

Didn't Rush also go through an opiate addiction via pain killers?
Also a junkie is specifically a heroin addict.. heroin is called junk.
lol @ CNN, are they now a good source?
you people lol
Nevertheless I'm pulling for Tiger Woods. I hope he can overcome this setback. He may or may not be better than Palmer or Nicolaus, but he perhaps more than those guys created a buzz about golf. To me (I hate it) his popularity shouldn't know his skin type, color, I don't care. He's a guy whose father groomed him to be PGA from birth and he's done a pretty good job of it, while fame is just that to so many young guys, He's worked at it.
A generation of golfers (including today’s PGA stars) got into the game because of Tiger. Tiger’s presence generates big $$$ via both in-person spectators and television ratings when he plays in tournaments over the past 20 years.
‘ I stopped playing golf years ago because it did havoc on my back. I’m generally a very healthy person but when I was playing golf, I would occasionally get back pains so bad that I could barely stand up from a sitting or lying position. The pain was excruciating.
I never got surgery but I gave up golf and instead went on daily walks. I try to get 3-5 miles a day of walking in. I haven’t had back pain since and walking seems to really help with your back.
I wonder how many other pro golfers (besides Tiger) has chronic back pain’
Yes, a lot folks really have spastic motion in the golf swing and it will ruin their back. Usually it’s a matter of moving the spine laterally and up and down while flapping your arms ending with a reverse pivot. If the spine is kept in a fixed position and you just rotate your shoulders around it, not much will happen to your back unless you’re aggressive as hell hitting 1000 balls a day like tiger did for decades.
Nope.
Phil , David (Duval) , Payne , John Daley, Rory , all would have been there regardless
Arnie and Jack still paved the way age wise regardless.
Tom (Watson) to an extent also , nearly winning The Open (British) at his age.
Fred Couples
Not sure how or why he’s still playing but he’s had severe back problems for years. Think he had back fusion surgery years ago..maybe few more more since then. He’s not shy about admitting & think he even wears a brace.
You can literally see him grimace when he bends down to pickup ball.
Love Freddy, one of my favorite players
Update
Comminuted fracture right leg
Foot and ankle pins/screws.
Omg
Source?
Sounds like leg, ankle completely shattered ;(
Found it
Wow, recovery will be crazy extensive
I’m no doctor but right leg, foot & ankle in really bad shape
Good news is they got him to trauma 1 center pretty quickly. Time matters most with injuries like this.
I assume orthopedic specialists will be called in as well
& still recovering from back surgery ;(
Thanks for posting the crash site picture. It is a couple thousand feet north of Blackhorse Rd. which is mentioned in most news reports.
Will they change the name to "Rolling SUVs Estates"?
No disagreement with your conclusion. However, your math assumes no initial vertical component(s) to the vector(s) of the sign part(s) immediately after the vehicle is no longer in contact with those parts.
Also, stricken parts would still have most of their horizontal velocity when initially hitting the pavement, and would to some degree slide, skip, tumble, or bounce.
No doubt corrections for all the above can be estimated by experienced investigators if they have time to do a thorough enough investigation. Angle of impact onto pavement seems like it could be "interesting" to try to determine.
I have great respect for what can happen: In one case, I witnessed the aftermath of a stricken pickup truck that was knocked by a slightly larger pickup truck over 100 ft., right in front of my house. The stricken truck had pulled out in front of the other and got t-boned. Path after impact = ~25 ft. of pavement, over a medium width ditch, across my front yard including a "bounce" @ the yard edge of the ditch, where the P.U. went airborne again, came down, took out a ~ 6" trunk dogwood tree, slid further -- just past the corner of my house, and impacted a roughly 14" dia. hickory tree with enough velocity to sink the hickory tree trunk it ended up "wrapped" on about a foot into the front end of the stricken pickup truck. The "striker" was slowed considerably by the impact but still veered slightly right across the intersection and about 75 deg. into the ditch "corner", coming to rest with the front end buried into the soft mud on the opposite side of that ditch. Amazingly, no one was seriously hurt. The speed limit at that spot is 55 mph, but the striker was not ticketed, only the "stricken" was, for pulling out into the path of the striker. (I suspect the striker was speeding, however.)
