Tiger Woods was hospitalized after being involved in a single-car accident in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning. The extent of any potential injuries, as well as the circumstances of the accident, remain unclear.
Woods, 45, was in California for a two-day content shoot with Golf Digest/GOLFTV after serving as host for the PGA Tour's Genesis Invitational over the weekend. Pictures surfaced on social media of Woods smiling with Dwayne Wade and David Spade at Rolling Hills Country Club on Monday, but with his movement still restricted, he did not hit balls or play any holes. The shoot involved Woods giving on-course lessons to a number of celebrities, but he mostly provided instruction and hit a few putts. He was in good spirits on Monday but did not arrive to the course for the second day of shooting.
On Sunday, Woods told CBS’ Jim Nantz that he was awaiting the results of an upcoming MRI before he could ramp up practicing and training for a return to competition.
Woods last competed alongside his son at the PNC Championship, which finished on Dec. 20 in Orlando. He then underwent a microdiscectomy procedure to remove a pressurized disc fragment that was pinching a nerve. It was his fifth back surgery overall and the first since his spinal fusion in April 2017.
Tiger was conscious when extricated from vehicle. “Jaws of Life” were not necessary. Sheriff’s spokesman said “nothing salacious” is suspected. The vehicle was traveling down a hill. The Sheriff’s spokesman said that vehicles can gain speed quickly there, often before the driver realizes it.
I have to disagree. Tiger is a truly talented...and at times...a magnificent golfer.
However, in my opinion, it takes a lot more than a high win/low loss record to make a legend.
Ask Tommy Armour, Arnie Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
If that white line is the actual path, that looks like falling asleep to me...
You are certainly entitled to your opinion.
The guy seemed to be back on track. Prayers up for he and his family.
Have you thought of becoming a substance abuse counselor?
If after a recent Covid vac , they’ll bury the story immediately as Hank Aaron.
I know this area intimately. This was a profession sports figure who no doubt had great perception of distance, speed etc, so him not realizing his vehicle was traveling way to fast seems a bit questionable.
Btw, the investigation just started, it won't be known for days if this guy was intoxicated, if he was on the phone etc...
Please NN, don’t let facts ruin a spicy story. 😉
Don’t you know it. ::::rolling eyes::::
That's what killed Kobe Bryant last year.
“Have you thought of becoming a substance abuse counselor?”
Actually, I’d first like to try being a motivational speaker.
LOL!
It’s fortunate for him that he missed hitting the power pole.
That’s about the only thing he missed for before impacting multiple trees.
Traveled 300 yards out of control while rolling the vehicle and impacting trees? Incredible. This guy was way over the speed limit...
He doesn't live in LA. He was there on a photo shoot for a promotion.
And since he was northbound towards the direction of the 405 fwy, he might have been running late to catch a flight out of LAX....I dunno.
As usual I see we have to cheap remarks that don’t need to be here.
I had a good friend who was traveling at the stated speed and rolled his suv many years ago, he ended up paralyzed for life. Tiger is lucky to walk away with no major injuries.
