Our Supreme Court Goes Full Nicaragua in PA Election Case
American Thinker ^ | 23 Feb, 2021 | C. Edmund Wright

Our Supreme Court is now part of the Washington Swamp, and the Washington Swamp is now totally divorced from any understanding of or caring about the rest of the nation.

For a couple of years, my wife and I escaped Obama’s America by owning a Pacific Ocean hotel in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. The irony was that in supposedly socialist Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega's government left us alone far more than government did in the supposedly free country of the United States of Obama.

Still, while Ortega 2.0 might have shed most of his socialism, he had not shed his lust for power, and the job of making sure he never lost again was that of the Chief Justice Roberto Rivas Reyes of what is in effect the Nicaraguan Supreme Court. I’m not sure who was actually more powerful or corrupt -- President Ortega or Justice Rivas -- but Rivas’s was bigger. His motorcade, that is, and he owned the two biggest homes on the two most elevated lots in San Juan del Sur, the nation’s top coastal town, a few hundred yards from our hotel.

Today I’m not sure whose court is more corrupt vis-a-vis election law: Nicaragua’s court or our Supreme Court. It appears that Donald Trump has remade the U.S. Supreme Court -- in Mitt Romney’s image! (I am not blaming Trump, just stating the obvious.)

While I think the United States Supreme Court stumbled badly in its 7-2 rejection of the Texas case on standing last year, the refusal to “grant cert” (i.e., to take the case) yesterday in a Pennsylvania case is horrifying beyond words. I could say that our election laws are now full-on banana republic, but I’d hate to insult bananas that badly.

I did not get to excerpt the PA election part due to excerpt word limit so I will condense it: SCOTUS protecting corruption PA election. SCOTUS is in the center of the swamp.

Yup,absolutely. We now understand that there's not a court in this country that has the decency *and* the courage to uphold the Constitution.

IT'S TIME FOR SECESSION BOYS AND GIRLS!

All three branches of government are equal to the extent that they serve the bureaucratic central branch which holds the other three in orbits around itself.

Whatever blackmail the Scuzbags have over Robert’s must be sickening, and obviously strong enough to make Kavanaugh and Comey-Barrett acquiesce in favor of the Demoncrats. It makes me nauseous.

Pray this is an interregnum.

I’m done waiting for the supreme court to rectify the wrongs in this country. I’m done waiting for the supreme court to help the helpless. I don’t care anymore. I don’t care if boys are going to compete with women were use their locker rooms. I’m not waiting for the Supreme Court to do the right thing anymore. They clearly are not whether it’s abortion or same-sex marriage or whatever. I really don’t care. I don’t really care if John Roberts steps down because of his ties to pedophiliaAnd then we have Joe Biden appointing his own liberal chief justice. I don’t care in fact the Republicans have appointed the worst judges in my opinion.Clearly everybody has a Bandan Donald Trump who is a good man and has been good for this country and the world for that matter. I don’t care anymore

From a different perspective ...

The Pennsylvania election situation could very easily have been rectified in the state legislature. I would even suggest that the legislature's involvement in this legal challenge that went up to the U.S. Supreme Court was completely disingenuous.

“If the Constitution says that the little guy should win, the little guy is going to win in court before me, ... But if the Constitution says that the big guy should win, well, then the big guy is going to win because my obligation is to the Constitution.”

Justice Roberts at his confirmation hearing. Just words.

Appears that Schumer’s 2020 threats of physical harm against Kavanaugh have reaped great benefits to the left. He looks like he is morphing left into another John Roberts...

I agree, but prepare for the usual RINO’s to quote this statute and that statutue for why legally it “can’t” be done all while completely oblivious to how they are accomplishing nothing but defending tyranny at this point.

I’m sure this is going to be an unpopular comment, but why should conservatives want SCOTUS interceding in what is clearly a state matter? I understand that constitution provides that states can appoint electors via any method they choose.

It’s a legitimate question - I’m open to contrary views here. But I feel the chance to rectify this was at the state level, and that’s where the failure occurred.

So we can’t win by voting; we can’t win by rebellion since the Left is practically begging for an attack; secession looks very unlikely and would be a county or city by city basis; so what options do we have other than a new dark ages with civilizational collapse its own unpredictable eraser?

So far I'm not seeing much of a difference between RBG and ACB. This is incredibly disappointing.

NO MATTER WHAT, constitutionalists will never have a SC majority. That's how thick the corruption is.

Our nation is becoming ungovernable, because there is no reason for a thinking person to have any respect for our institutions like the FBI, The Justice Departments, or our courts on any level. We are facing dark days indeed.

We are facing a dark days indeed because when the black Swan crisis comes, (they always come), we will have no institution that we believe in that can save us and no institution that we can trust to save us from any institution that would presume to rescue us.

In short, nowhere to turn and no one to trust.

Our abandonment extends not just to the listed institutions charged with administering justice but to those institutions charged with informing us, educating us, medicating us, entertaining us, managing our wealth, and protecting us as a nation state.

The black Swan? Contemplate government, state and personal debt, add in pestilence, multiply by corruption and let Chinese aggression simmer.
