So true. A friend of my son’s (female, ditzy as hell) was trying to outdo everyone....you’d have thought she was a Kardashian.
To ask each poor sucker to be her bride’s maid (she had about 8 of them) she decided to surprise each one. She took them out (INDIVIDUALLY) to an expensive dinner and had a big gift bag with gifts in it for each girl. So the girls had to open their gifts and guess why she was taking them for dinner.....her wedding planning had been going on for two years with pictures up the ying yang on her fb page constantly. She had showers and stag and does and all kinds of nonsense. She had the fanciest place in Toronto booked. Then covid hit. Wedding had to be post-poned. I don’t know if it’s happening this year or not. These are people who live pay to pay.....no money in either family. People turn into crazy, self-absorbed narcissists who have to outdo everyone with this internet. It’s so crazy.
Seems like a lot of BS. My wife and I were married by a Navy Chaplin in the time between two scheduled church services at the chapel. Her in her wedding gown, me in my service dress whites. Reception at Chi-Chis. Lasted for more than 40 years.
I think all this ridiculous crap started with all the ‘reality’ tv shows, average people getting their 15 min of fame by acting ridiculous on tv. Now everybody wants attention. It’s creepy and pathetic. I don’t go to weddings anymore, they have become ridiculous.
