Stevie (S.O.M.F.) Nicks.
Chicago, when Terry Kath was still a member.
Glen Campbell was one of the famous guitarists of the wrecking crew, the LA session musicians. He was so talented he moved on to making his own music.
That’s in your opinion, right!
Glen was the only member of The Wrecking Crew who couldn’t read sheet music. That’s unheard of for a studio musician. Heck, their job description is pretty much being able to play sheets perfectly by the second take. Glen could listen to any composition once and instantly write a guitar part in his head then play it by ear. A real musical prodigy.
Comparing Fleetwood Mac and Chicago is like comparing Steely Dan and Queen. They’re completely separate genres with different roots and audiences. FM came from the folk/blues/Laurel Canyon sound with a blend of UK and LA musicians. Chicago was a Midwestern horn band with jazz roots and more classically schooled set of musicians. They were hijacked by the LA producers at Columbia and eventually neutered by people like David Foster. Until Peter Cetera was divorced from the group vocals were really secondary to the instrumental complexities of the music.
FM was interesting because of Linsey Buckingham’s unique guitar style and Stevie Nick’s physical and vocal presence but as musicians there is no comparison.
Not a studio musician, but Steve Morse doesn't read music either.
I lost my ardor for FM when Clinton used "Don't Stop" as their campaign theme.
I liked the intro given for Chicago's induction into the Rock HOF: paraphrased, "you say Chicago is your Mom's band? Well then, I want to party with your Mom!"
I vote Leonid and Friends.
Leonid and Friends are nothing short of incredible! I love all of their videos!
Both bands, since the early 70s, are little more than elevator music in my opinion
Well that sounds like something a head banger might say.
Chicago 1969-1975 > Fleetwood Mac pre-Buckingham Nicks > Chicago post-1975 > Fleetwood Mack Buckingham Nicks
Heard “Rumours” that John McVie is a Trump supporter.
Title track of Tusk almost made me a USC fan.
After Kath died Chicago turned into Peter Cetera singing syrupy ballads. Pure schlock. But it outsold the early stuff - go figure.
I saw them in Denver 2 years ago. We probably saw the same show.
