If they ask questions they have no right to ask, then I will not feel obligated to answer truthfully.

“I will not feel obligated to answer truthfully”

Exactly. Just lie to them.

My barber was required to keep a sign up sheet of customers in case someone tested positive. I always signed in with a bogus name and phone number. It was obviously bogus, like “Mickey Mouse” or something. They didn’t care. :)

Ditto. If I need something from them, I'll say whatever I need to, but if they're going to poke their nose into something that is none of their business I am under no obligation to be truthful. I will be the sole and final arbiter on what part or parts of my life is in fact their business.

Back in December I got a routine physical. Did the "routine" background questions on health and such. I don't lie in terms of exercise, diet, alcohol use - they can't give me a good professional opinion if they don't have accurate information. However, for the first time ever there were questions about firearms in the home and if I felt safe in my home etc. I wanted to say yes there are multiple loaded firearms in my home, that's why I feel safe there. But I didn't - it is none of their business and not necessary information for them to do their job. So I lied on the questionnaire - without reservation or guilt. In fact I had forgotten all about it until I read this.

I like my doc, I intend to continue to see him. I don't think he really cares about firearms. I think the practice is being forced to ask. It would probably be the same anywhere I went. So I'll go, and I'll just keep that part of my life private. It is not necessary for him to tell me if my cholesteral, weight, and blood pressure are ok. That's all I want or need from my doc - not any input/opinion on personal physical security.

If you come onto my property and request a service I have the right to ask you pretty much anything I like.

You have the right to refuse to answer but that refusal may have consequences.
