From what I’ve read about it, the Spanish flu was of a bacterial type not viral.

“The Spanish flu, also known as the 1918 influenza pandemic, was an unusually deadly influenza pandemic caused by the H1N1 influenza A virus.”

Stop. The Spanish flu was viral. Not bacterial.

When you get the virus it is the secondary pneumonia that kills you.
