Please read the history of the Articles of Confederation. The last time we had a constitutional convention to address shortfalls in the constitution, the delegates agreed to scrap it altogether and draft a new one.

Even though the old one specified that changes could only be made with the approval of the Continental Congress and all the state legislatures, the delegates simply decided that 9 of 13 was enough.

We know the left is itching to get rid of the Electoral College. We know the left doesn’t like the Senate and the fact that little WY gets two votes. I am thinking that their cancel culture will easily rid us of 1A, 2A, 4A, and 5A. After all, disinformation, institutional racism, domestic terrorism, and, duh, guns.

I would expect a Constitutional Convention would quickly turn the republic into a Parlimentary State where popular votes build factions, and factions make up the government.

I wish that someone could convince me that I am wrong.

First, convince me that elections can reverse the accelerating tyranny.

The COS approach is in Art. V for a reason...It is there to provide another check on the abuse of federal power. Whatever, if there is enough support in the states for the very serious things you point to in your third paragraph, they will happen with or without a COS.

I have read many accounts of the Constitutional convention, The Articles of Confederation, the Federalist Papers, Max Farrand etc.; and I don't recall any major disagreements amongst the founders as to the inclusion of Art V.

I have also read accounts on Justice Scalia's turn- around on "constitutional conventions". He opposed them when he felt the time was wrong politically. Well, I believe we have now entered another time in which court packing, ending filibusters, election fraud etc. may call for strong measures.

Post script: To what or to whom did the "duh" in your post refer?
