The Attempted Deplatforming You Probably Never Heard Of – Baen Books Forum

I had never heard of Baen Books, and that’s on me. It’s apparently a big player in the Science Fiction genre, something I’m not into, so there’s no reason I would know of it, but there’s plenty of reason why plenty of other people do know of it.

The publisher has been canceled by a sci-fi conference, which was to honor Weisskopf as Guest of Honor.

This is what now might be called a Parler Attack.

Parler had been unfairly smeared as the organizing platform for the Capitol Hill riot, when in fact our own and other analyses show that Department of Justice criminal complaints focus far more heavily on organizing on Facebook and Twitter.

No!!! I have bought a number of science fiction books from them. They are an awesome site. Even have a wide variety of free books you can read, and if you enjoy that the authors frequently have a longer series you can purchase. Prices are very reasonable - all ebooks though, which works for me. You get your ebook in a wide variety of formats too.

I like some of their authors like Mike Baron and Larry Correia. Haven’t read Bujold yet but she’s on my to read list.

It has been awhile since I bought an Analog magazine. It is chuck full of leftist drivel. The Left’s March on the culture has infiltrated the lonely outpost ghetto of Science Fiction . Baen Publishing is apparently refusing to become assimilated. The Swamp Borg will not allow any resistance.

So when does the left unwrite ‘1984’? About the same time they start making us unpersons? They can’t make us forget about Donald Trump but they sure can do a fine job of drumming up the 15 minutes of hate everyday .

I occasionally buy a copy of Biblical Archaeology Review, a magazine devoted to archeology in Israel and neighboring countries. I had never noticed a political slant, but about two years ago I began to see articles that were clearly written from a leftist viewpoint; one even took a gratuitous shot at Trump. More and more, I’m seeing articles with a woke theme, like ones celebrating women in archaeology.

The latest story is that the so-called reporter had summitted a book to Baen recently and it was rejected. Also, Baen is looking into who made the actual posts.

Ouch! Plenty of words in that sentence.

Realistically the conventions need the publishers and authors. The writers the would be author who wrote the original hit piece against Baen is a wanna be. I pretty much read all the authors he hates and will continue to do so even if I’m buying directly.

Two or three years ago, we joked about the “feminism in glaciology” article. Now I’m seeing political pot-shots in EVERYTHING.

Example: In a technical article I was editing, the contributor was mentioning stats on how often generations recycle e-waste and men versus women. Men recycle their smart phones more than women ... so the writer mentioned toxic masculinity. The person COULD NOT let something good be said about men without such “correction”.

Vengeance driven incitement of the liberal lynch mob. Makes sense.

Science fiction books have started to get unreadable in the last few years—they are supposed to be based on “suspension of disbelief” but Wakanda in space is just a bridge too far...

Baen is THE name in science fiction. Has been for decades.

Then I misinterpreted your statement about the overly long sentence.
