The authors of a new book are arguing for race-blind dating apps — and the removal of filters for race and ethnicity.

“Only date black women” = HURRRAH!!!
“Only date white women” = DAS RACIST!!!
That kind of ugly goes clear to the bone. She could have a face like Nefertiti and she would still be ugly.
Yeah - Actually, that gif is substantially prettier than what I had conjured up from her words.
That is awfully discriminatory and racist.
Are you allowed to see the photo of the person, or is that some kind of discrimination?
No.
It’s called Black Dog Syndrome.
They are often overlooked because they don’t “stand out” as more brightly colored dogs do.
Also, they’re extremely hard to photograph and therefore “invisible” to some people.
Then there’s the weird ancient stigma attached to all black animals, marking them somehow as evil or sinister.
Google “Black dog” and you’ll get a zillion fairy tales of mysterious black hounds foretelling doom or wreaking havoc.
Despite our modern mindset, we’re still pretty much primitives, huddling in caves, telling ghost stories, at heart.
I love black dogs.
Always have, always will.
/I blame Led Zeppelin
:D
What you did there, I see it.
:D
Are they going to ban photos on dating apps too, since they reveal race? This could get real interesting.
Been waitng for this nonsense to trickle down to dating shows.
IIRC something similar happened some years ago on a SJ Raphel (?). Second thought may have been another kook show. Can’t recall her name, young and fat.
A male contestant was introduced to another male that had the hots for the contestant.
Long and short, the gay guy ended up dead when he tried to press his affections .
The title is that people’s swiping behavior is the problem, but then they go on to complain about race being used as a criteria in the apps. Frankly, that is weird, I don’t think that other dating services over the years have done that. They may screen based on age, that sort of thing, but race?? Probably not. Anyway, theres an easy fix for that, just remove race as a criteria from the apps in question. What’s not going to go away so easily is the fact that people have self-segregated for decades, and talked/theorized/blamed the other group behind their backs at length. You can’t just walk into something like that without noticing something amiss. The “I am a Queen” thing doesn’t help either.
My grandmother said you’d catch a lot more flies with honey than vinegar, but after the “summer of love” we’ve had, it seems more like trying to catch flies with pepper spray, or a blowtorch maybe.
I think that maybe the place to start for a reapproachment might be in the churches. There’s a lot of territory that needs to be covered and the Word of God is a much better than usual arbiter.
Ricki Lake, I think it was. I remember when it happened.
I don’t think the gay guy pressed it any further than the show...as I recall his “interest” tracked down where he lived (they were from the same town) and shotgunned him when he opened his front door.
Then you also have the problem of apps taking in way more info than they need about all of us. As it stands, I find that Facebook has used race as a criteria for the order in which my friends are listed.
Did she list herself as a ‘bbw’? (Big Beautiful Woman = fat)
I wonder how many women would write if a guy listed himself as “big fat tub o lard”
You know darn well that’s coming
Don’t these dating sites have photographs of the people?
A match making website without pictures will be out of business in no time.
As for the alleged racism, I know several women who dated black men and became serious in the relationship, only to find his family was more hostile toward her than her family was toward him!
Something like this could well become law and dating by puter will shrink to the fringe weirdos.
If I remember correctly, they were angry that STRAIGHT men wouldn’t date the trannies...
