This is a classic sketch from The Jack Benny Show. He never jumped the shark the entire time his show played.
He’s done this before with others and I’ll post the original from Giselle McKenzie
I have old tapes of the JB radio show he was in San Francisco and they were building the Golden Gate Bridge at the time. 1930’s I think.
Such a nice funny show.
Jack Benny was a real stand-up guy. From Wikipedia:
Soon after he [Eddie Anderson, “Rochester”] became part of the permanent show cast, the program went on location to New York. When a couple from the South complained about staying in the same hotel as Anderson, the hotel manager tried to get him to find a room somewhere else.
Hilliard Marks, the show’s producer and also Jack Benny’s brother-in-law, told the manager that Anderson would leave the hotel the next day. When he did, Jack Benny and the entire radio show cast and crew totaling 44 people, joined Anderson in checking out of the hotel.
Enjoyed both videos. Thanks.
He was such a funny man. But I really didn’t appreciate him back in the day. But I did laugh nonetheless. It was a favorite for my parents, so I would have to watch him.
Here is another “Getting to Know You” from the Jack Benny Program.

My Waukegan hometown guy.
Went to Jack Benny Jr. High School
Strange there was never a Ray Bradbury School of any kind.
I have SiriusXM and I love the old radio channel. I love Jack Benny, and so many others, it was a different time and even today the shows don’t seem dated.
The writing, imagination, and the actors were just unreal.
Back when there was actual talent in the entertainment industry.
Best post of the month...
You’d never would have guessed from the way Dennis Day sang, that he’d go on to have ten kids.
Jack Benny was hilarious. I can’t even think about him without cracking up.
Thank you...
How true .
And I don’t say that out of a sense of my own nostalgia - this stuff was made decades before I was ever born.
