IRVING, Texas - Irving police are investigating what led a former staffer of Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne to commit suicide outside her home Wednesday afternoon.
The congresswoman and others were inside the home at the time. Police said they heard a single gunshot, then saw the man lying on the ground outside, and called 911.
Van Duyne released a statement Thursday acknowledging she’s known the man for years, and he’s been to her home several times for holiday parties and get-togethers.
But why he did this is still unknown.

Broken heart.
That was my first impression, that or an uber goober.
I am stealing that one.
It was your charm. Nice comment. 🙂
He probably got Vince Foster’d.
He does look fruity.
I’m guessing he was recently put on his knees, doggie style.
And about 9.5 on the looks gay meter.
That grin of his has a lot of similarity to Al Franken. I’d bet money he’s as gay as old Paree. Being a serial sexual harasser of women doesn’t make Al straight, gay guys hate women.
Interesting. I think you hit the nail on the. head re this guy’s obsession.
My gaydar went off.
He has a daughter and grandchildren.
Very sad.
Yes, I told him he had to leave. I never heard from him again, nor did I reach out to find out anything about him. It was super creepy. I thought he was a normal-ish guy until that time.
This is actually the first time I’ve thought about that event in many years, thank God.
There’s always someone sitting at home, reading the obituaries, hoping to find YOUR name on the list.
“He’s about a 9 on the goofy lookin dude meter.”
Yea, my first thought too. He looks like a Lincoln Project type...so no surprise.
Your story is interesting...Who knows? Maybe the Congresswoman is thinking about what the guy really felt about her...
