IRVING, Texas - Irving police are investigating what led a former staffer of Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne to commit suicide outside her home Wednesday afternoon.
The congresswoman and others were inside the home at the time. Police said they heard a single gunshot, then saw the man lying on the ground outside, and called 911.
Van Duyne released a statement Thursday acknowledging she’s known the man for years, and he’s been to her home several times for holiday parties and get-togethers.
But why he did this is still unknown.

Gaydar is pegging.
He’ll still probably be listed as a COVID death.
Same guess here.
Women don’t sleep with subordinates who look like that guy. This has all the earmarks of a nut job offing himself dramatically.
In a statement read by a spokesperson, Rep. Van Duyne shared they knew each other well and had spoken just last month.
Doesn't sound like a close relationship. Odd.
She is a doll and she wants someone with big money or that is headed in that direction. Great looking women look for great providers, except my wife who has made an untold number of mistakes. I was told that I am handsome once, but that was a waitress milking me for a big tip.
I think you’re right.
I think it’s less when they are put on psych meds, and more when they cold turkey off.
He reminds me of that one dude on Whose Line is it Anyway?
He had been psyching himself up for many months to ask her out, but five minutes before he was going to make his big move he suddenly realized he was gay and his mind went “pop.”
Unrequited love?
Yeah, he was probably in love with her.
Sad story.
That’s my first thought.
Sounds like they knew each other well enough, and she didn’t want to be as close to him as he wanted to be with her.
In my younger years, there was a guy I worked with on occasion. We were cordial with each other during the work day, but didn’t socialize beyond that. He actually creeped me out some, but I never said that outright. I eventually moved to another job in another city a 5 hour drive away. I didn’t stay in touch him or with many of the folks I worked with.
One time, out of the blue, about a year later, he showed up at my new place of employment and begged me to marry him. I had not seen nor talked with him after I left the previous job. To boot, I was engaged to my husband by then. This guy had met my then boyfriend, turned fiancé back when we worked together. It was very unnerving to be stalked like that.
‘It’s like a ball and chain...’
don’t need two women for that; one’s enough for some guys...
‘She is a doll...’
she’s all right; worth killing myself over...? not a chance...
NO, unless they move the body to NY!
When yo’ tryin’ to love 3 women, there’s only one thing ya can do...
Ya gotsta make you wif’ think yo’ cheatin’ on da other two
Would it help if *I* told you that you are a handsome devil? -——— Didn’t think so. lol
