Your right. They are usually at least semi friendly. O well it there loss. I just choose to keep to myself but will wave or say hi. My wife is much more friendly than myself and has talked to our neighbors next to us. They have a dog and he got in our yard and they came to the fence and asked for permission to come get the dog. The father don’t speak English but seemed nice. That’s about the only interaction I have had with them in 8 years they have been there.

Maybe they were Green Badgers in an MOS that selected for introverts. I used to do that as a civilian; I’m still very stand-offish retired.
Maybe they had a bad experience with a crazy neighbor in a past neighborhood, and are simply self-protective now.
