Anchovies-yuck! Way too salty. I bought them on a pizza six months ago and they were super salty and tasted fermented.
Pizza should use sardines and not anchovies.
I’ve never had anchovies on a pizza. I would try it though on a slice.
They are both good for you?
Anchovies are great on pizza. But they have to be crispy.
>>A new survey finds, not terribly surprisingly, that America’s #1 pizza topping is pepperoni, followed closely behind by sausage.
REAL pepperoni or sausage or those chicken products that some companies use?
>>Pineapple, as it turns out, is only the fifth least favorite topping. Eggplant, artichokes and broccoli all chart higher on that list.
Only artichokes have any cred.
if hipster or health nut toppings are including then NO tofu, no mac & cheese, etc.
Broccoli is the wrong type of vegatable for pizza.
It’s like the people who put cauliflower in crawfish boils. NO.
The top 4 are nonstarters anyway.
Anchovies have a special level of paranoia - even though I’ve never had an anchovy pizza, everybody you ask to share a pizza with says, “Anything but anchovies!” as if that’s a common thing. 🙄
One solitary anchovy on the middle of a pizza slice is divine. A tangy bit of saltiness gives a slice incredible added flavor and body. VUNDABAR! The least favorite topping should be pineapple. Never!
I love anchovies on pizza... But only on good pizza with really good fresh anchovies. Also the ratio of anchovies needs to be just right. I’ve always thought that the reason people don’t like anchovies is because they are often served stale and awful anchovies on their pizzas.
I love anchovies! Then again, I also love liver and steak & kidney pie.
A great pizza place nearby makes a special prosciutto and onion pie for me. It’s great.
“I didn’t like anchovies as a pizza topping... until I tried it.”
Like everything, there are serious QUALITY differences with Anchovies. My first pizza with anchovies was in Naples, Italy. That pizza was a revelation. I have tried it in the USA with binary results. Horrible and very good.
My wife loves anchovies but, she will not touch any anchovy that does not come from Italy. Specifically, Sicily. No, she’s not Italian. She’s from SE Asia. We met at UCSD while we were attending the university together. She can somehow tell the difference. When we go to NY and Vegas, she will ask where the anchovies come from and ask to see the container before she places an order. I must admit, she has a point. Pizzas with Sicilian anchovies taste great.
Funhouse Pizza, Raytown Mo. Hwy 50. Pepperoni, canadian bacon and beef. It just doesn’t get any better.
Sausage and onion for the win!
Save the anchovies for a good caesar salad. Pineapple in the form of the classic ham and pineapple Hawaiian pizza is quite popular in Australia. My kids would live off the things if we let them.
LOOOOOOVE anchovies. Pineapple too. Better if I have it with ham or prosciutto. I like lots of toppings on my pizza because I figure if I am going to pig out, pig out with lots of protein and veggies.
Pineapple rocks a pizza.. especially with salty ham and some sweet Maui onion. Hawaiian pizza is one of my favorites!
That's the way they're SUPPOSED to taste.
Sardines - no. Maybe smoked sardines in olive oil.
I have no problem with any vegetable on pizza. I did try anchovies and it wasn’t bad, but definitely something to be taken only sparingly.
Rotation IS a problem.
