Anchovies-yuck! Way too salty. I bought them on a pizza six months ago and they were super salty and tasted fermented.

Pizza should use sardines and not anchovies.

That's the way they're SUPPOSED to taste.

Sardines - no. Maybe smoked sardines in olive oil.

Get better anchovies.

Seriously.

If they tasted as you describe they were pretty rank.

You still may not like them but you will have given them a better shot.

Get some better anchovies. My Italian deli has some white ones that come in a glass jar that are excellent. These are excellent too:

On their list of things worse than pineapple - I like eggplant, artichokes and broccoli all - but only artichokes have a place on a pizza! And then sparingly.
