“Texas will revert to natural gas, this is a godsend.”

The natural gas pumps and lines in Texas are frozen because Texas never winterized them as states up North do so even though there was a commission report in 2012 to do so.

Natural gas still needs an electric delivery system. But I hear you.

Amen to the natural gas! And I’ve about had it with others outside of Texas throwing insults. One I read this morning was “I went to Texas and felt like I had a 3,000 IQ.” I thought well, we need to keep all our energy home where it belongs, and see what the other states think about that.

This is all bad - people are upset enough it could tip close elections next time around. Seriously, people are out for blood. Wind is a joke, but natural gas plants have dropped even more production than wind.

Natural gas is a big part of the problem here - the deep cold has severely impacted production and distribution. Texas has little natural gas storage like they have back east. Power plants cannot burn gas they do not have. Like all major man-made disasters, there are multiple points of failure here, renewables are just part of the story. And all points need to be addressed. And making power generation resilient and redundant will mean higher bills - for events that happen about once a decade.
