Rick Perry suggests Texans prefer blackouts to federal energy regulation

“Texans would be without electricity for longer than three days to keep the federal government out of their business,” Perry said. “Try not to let whatever the crisis of the day is take your eye off of having a resilient grid that keeps America safe personally, economically, and strategically.”

Don’t states still have the last word on what they’ll allow if not on federal property?

Probably not according to SCOTUS. Also you would be sued by neighboring states for polluting their air (by a tiny tiny amount). Again the the threat to secede is the only way to make the feds to back down.

“This is all bad - people are upset enough it could tip close elections next time around.”

IF the SOS and Governor become D’s, we’ll never win an election in TX again. It’s magic.

Thank you. I caused an uproar by stating it wrong. There is a Texas Tribune article that explained it, but couldn’t find it.
I’m here in Texas going through this hades, but I’m not ready to hand over regulations to the federal government.

They have cheap electricity in TX and it’s not subsidized.

I’m more worried about that than getting power back.

Well, "It's not gonna get that cold around here ever again because of global warming", right?

Just some really smart people going with the conventional wisdom, sounds like to me.

There was an audit conducted awhile back whose recommendations were never given any serious consideration concerning weatherizing the Texas Power System.

This is correct, and the libs in Texas are blaming lax regulation, and corrupt lazy Republicans who run the state for the failure to get the weatherization implemented. It will be a massive bludgeon that gets used in the next election.

25% of their generation capacity is wind driven. That’s just a stupid idea period. And of course a guy from Harvard designed this fiasco.

Of course it failed.

Amazing isn’t it that in all of the Great State of Texas, our largest energy producer, they can’t find enough Texans able and willing to to serve on the ERCOT board.

I’d like to see the bottom of the incestuous pit that got the people on the board that are there now.

Don’t doubt the Dims will be screaming about Abbott receiving a Green energy prize some weeks ago. All power sources should be hardened, not just against computer hackers, but for extreme weather, regardless of the state they’re in. Yes, it costs money, but there are far fewer headaches in the long run.

Pick a subject, any subject, that you know something about. This one about natural gas production and distribution you should steer clear of though.

Where is Abbott

He's at the Capital wondering why Texas doesn't have chain link fence with barbed wire top to protect him along with several hundred National guardsmen.
