A new study shows some COVID-19 patients end up with damage to their brains, shedding new light on how the virus impacts the human body.

"I think it is critically important that we study this population properly," said Dr. Avi Nath, the lead researcher on this study and clinical director of the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. "We hope these results will help doctors understand the full spectrum of problems patients may suffer so that we can come up with better treatments."

Some COVID-19 patients report non-respiratory symptoms after contracting the virus, including headaches, delirium and mental fog.

Nath and his team at the National Institutes of Health used special, high-powered brain scans to look at the brains of people who died after contracting COVID-19. This was the first study of its kind in the country, published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Some people love wallowing in their “ailments”.

I’m more inclined to think it’s the eventual lack of clotting after Covid associated Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation has consumed the individuals platelets and clotting factors. It starts out as too much clotting and ends up as widespread hemorrhaging. The article mentions evidence of inflammation and bleeding in the brain with imaging studies. Brain bleeding is the opposite of throwing blood clots into the brain’s blood supply; although, there was probably clotting occurring prior to the bleeding-diffuse mini-strokes followed by intracerebral hemorrhaging. No wonder they have brain damage! But it’s just like the flu! that’s all it is, just the flu. /Sarc

I heard yesterday and some stupid mainstream media news channel that the next three months will be the worst the virus has ever been. Now where have I heard that before.

My husband and I both got high pitch noise in our ears. We still have it and it’s been 2 weeks since we got “over” Covid.

It works. I have a daughter with a brain injury. We’ve been careful. I can’t wait to get the vaccine.

I certainly agree.

May be the CDC and FDA could get out of the way of doctors that want to treat their patients with drugs that have shown promise in shortening the illness like ivermectin and HCQ?

the physiology is real. But it might explain why liberals on the northeast coast have gone nutso over the last year, devolving into blood lust politics. From turning over outside diners’ tables to shining spotlights into private homes while hypnotically chanting to dreaming up ways to harass a former sitting president and his followers.

The thing that bothers me, is that, in our area at least, doctors will not prescribe medication for Covid19, unless you are hospitalized. That makes zero sense to me. Our doctor wants us to get the “vaccine”, if that’s what you want to call it; my husband had a close call with an allergic reaction to an antibiotic, in the ER several years ago. If he hadn’t already had an IV steroid before they administered the antibiotic, I have no doubt he would have had an anaphylactic reaction; as it was, he popped out in hives all over, and they had to administer epinephrine. I’ve read those who have had an anaphylactic reaction to medication, should NOT have the vaccine. He has emphysema, which is why the doctor wants him to have the vaccine. I’m very concerned, but putting my faith in Jesus.

Um, no. Total BS.

If they examined the brains of liberals they would see the same damage in the absence of virus infection.

No. First they told me it was an upper respiratory infection. Next trip they said it was pneumonia. It took a pulmonologist to diagnose me with cracked glass lungs. This was early on and they were only giving COVUD tests to worst cases. I wasn’t in the “high risk” category.

That’s terrible. You must have been one of the first who got Covid-19 so they didn’t even know to test you for it.

I hope there are treatments that can be done to rebuild your lungs. Maybe some alternative therapies. And, of course, prayer. May our Heavenly Father heal your lungs completely.

By the way, I never even heard the expression “cracked glass lungs.” That really sounds bad.

There are pictures of it on-line. It is not the proper medical term, but a colloquialism that exemplifies the damage done through COVID scarring.
