I don’t think you will see Colt itself disappear, the name has appeal to it. If CZ is smart they will close up shop in the northeast and move to Florida, fire their union employees and start making affordable, quality firearms. There is no reason Colt cannot compete in the CCW market, it just chooses to stick with old designs and even those that have a place in the CCW market like the old Mustang .380 and the Colt Detective Special are un-affordable, why pay $1000 for a Colt pistol when you can get an effective quality CCW piece for half that price or less.
But like Gov. Malloy said: “we don’t need companies like that in Connecticut...”
And to think, in the anti-gun 1960s the congressmen of that time demanded a halt to the import of “army surplus rifles” officially to “prevent crime”.
In reality it was to protect their rifle makers of Remington, Winchester and Savage from cheap competition.
How times have changed.
Yeah, I know, I'm older than dirt!
Connecticut PROUD! Like Pratt and Stanley, et al, generations of men [and wimmin] worked there producing fine firearms. The politicos know nothing of the pride in making something or the ethic of hard work.
