It’s kind of tough to do well on IQ tests when you’re not even taught how to read.
They attempted this with Raven’s Progressive Matrices, but I doubt recognizing geometric progressions paints a very complete picture of someone’s overall intelligence.

I taught myself how to read. I did not cooperate with my teacher in second grade so she stuck me in the back corner of the room. The back corner where the bookcase was. By the end of second grade I was reading at 12th grade 99th percentile (they tested me). My IQ is right up there with Dr. Morbius, and so is that of my parents, siblings, children, etc.
Try teaching a dog to read — some of them are brighter than some of the immigrants.
