I love America, I support the troops, and I want sports teams to stop playing the national anthem before every game.
It's not an act of genuine patriotism, it's a ritual of joyless conformity.
End the obligatory performances and shame-enforced head-bowing. For the love of America, make the "Star Spangled Banner" mean something again.

1) You teach it in school. ALL FOUR VERSES.
Maybe he wants to replace it with the Pledge of Allegiance because trying to hit that High Note is embarrassing for him. #:^)
Oh sure let the demon rats erase another thing so you guys can sit on your butts enjoy yourself while they ruin this country some more. It’s not enough we let them steal the presidency, we just continue to move along with all their evil agenda. Let me know when anything finally crosses the line.
Or we can go with Garret Morris in this.

Well, that didn’t work, trying it again with Bing.

I would also add “God Bless America” to your list of songs to be taught in school. It should be sung loudly and proudly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmfeNq5x5aQ
What a jerk. For many of us, that is just not true.
It doesn't even have to fit a narrative, unless some poor squalid untruth is spread across us all during its delivery, like lately watered donkey compost for the cabbage patch out back.
Actually the whole thing is about war. All team sports are really practice tribal warfare, not just for the young alpha-male warriors on the battlefield but for the whole tribe to practice supporting and funding it. Cultures that do not practice war go extinct.
May I suggest you read up on American history? The words to the National Anthem were written in 1812 during the attack on Fort Henry by the British. The song was published that same year. Subsequently it gained in popularity, particularly after the Civil War.
"By the 1890s, the U.S military had adopted the song for ceremonial purposes, playing it to accompany the raising and lowering of the colors. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed an executive order designating it “the national anthem of the United States.”
Congress did pass a law confirming President Wilson's Executive Order in the 1930s but so what. By that time the song was our national anthem. It had been played at important ceremonies as it is today for 40 years at that point.
Lookit. I am a Viet Nam vet. I have voted Republican for over 45 years. I have watched this country go to hell in a handbasket my entire long life. The USA has now morphed into an evil, foul, disgusting, criminal, degenerate, latter day Sodom and Gomorrah. Watching the brazen criminal electoral fraud unfold, perpetrated by the Marxocrats and approved by their GOPee co-conspirators, was the last straw. I, myself, no longer want to participate in any pseudo-patriotic sham event or holiday of any sort any longer. I consider my refusal to do so as a sign of my true respect for what the now-defunct USA once was, but now no longer is. I won’t be celebrating Independence Day, or observing Memorial Day or Veterans Day, or Thanksgiving Day. This country is so over. I consider myself like an unreconstructed Confederate veteran who saw his country unravel and who hated Damn Yankees for the rest of his life. I’m done with it all. Wake me up when the secession muster happens. Otherwise, forget it.
When my dad was fighting in Guam, if someone called out to the guards, he was asked to sing the third verse of the National Anthem. If he started singing, “Oh where was that band who so hauntingly swore,” he was shot. If he said, “HOW THE %/€£ AM I GONNA KNOW THE %/€£\*: THIRD VERSE!” he was allowed to pass.
Because that is where I saw the article.
Business Insider, formerly known as The Moscow Economic Times”.
What a cowardly POS soyboy! Sorry but it is very hard to play the “Internationale” at a football game, so far.
Yes! If I were king there are two things I would ban. The singing of the national anthem and straight slot screws.
most sports dont deserve the anthem anymore
Yep.
Hard to argue with you on that...
