I’ve been chased out of stores screamed at by multiple people outside and even punched in the face all for not wearing a mask and I’m in Dallas. This shit is out of control. I finally found a church that doesn’t mask or social distance and am excited to be able to go this weekend. I was really getting depressed with the isolation and the idea that I’ll never be able to meet anyone new or go to a church and have fellowship with people outside of of some cultlike mask delusion which I can’t abide.
Gads! I didn’t think you had a mask mandate in Texas, but I guess individual cities do, just as here in Florida. My city has one, but the governor told them they can’t collect the fines and I think enforcement has gone way down because the mayor got ridiculed so much for his bicycle “mask police” busting up an outdoor concert. This for a city where he claims they can’t afford to hire more real police, even though we have one of the highest murder rates in the country (in the black neighborhoods, the rest of the city is fine).
The real problem is the Karens. Nextdoor is full of people having hysterics about some employee in a store not wearing a mask or the suspicion that their neighbors think the whole thing is ridiculous and don’t wear msks outdoors and don’t cross the street to avoid walking by them.
The other problem is the churches. They were never required, even by the city, to close or limit things. But virtually all of them did, including almost all of the Protestant churches and the Catholic diocese, whose bishop shut down everything and then started insisting on masks. However, some of the smaller orthodox Protestant churches and individual orthodox Catholic parishes quietly remained open. I go to a traditional rite mass in a big downtown church, and mask wearing was pretty optional because the bishop doesn’t go out of his way to find out what this small community is doing. And then, guess what...some spy came in and wrote a letter to the bishop complaining about us, so now we get warnings about how we have to have a “face covering” or they’ll shut us down. And none of this is really required.
It’s being “enforced” by crazy Karens (female or male) who are having their moment of glory.
